Every year from Leaving Cert results onwards, DkIT Students’ Union is inundated with students and their families looking for accommodation.
We would like to be able to provide a list of available accommodation located near the campus. We are currently looking for landlords to register their property with the SU Office. This is a service which offers advertising of your property directly to students seeking accommodation.
If you have a property or even just a single room which you are seeking to lease, you can download our Accommodation Registration Form from below and fill it in as soon as possible for inclusion in our Accommodation Database.
Note: It has recently come to our attention in the Students Union that a number of properties that students rent are not registered with the PRTB.
“Under the Residential Tenancies Act 2004, landlords have to register all tenancies with the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB). The PRTB is an organisation set up by the Government of Ireland. Its main role is to provide a dispute resolution service for landlords and tenants.”
We wish to advise you that failure by the landlord to register the tenancy can result in fines of up to €3,000 and/or up to 6 months in prison, along with a daily fine of €250.
Application Forms to register your property can be found on: http://www.prtb.ie. Here you will also find the relevant information for tenants and landlords, rights and obligations.
We will also provide all students with rent books. We strongly encourage you to insist on using them properly throughout the year.
Accommodation advertising forms should be returned to:
Students Union, Dundalk Institute of Technology, Dublin Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth.
